Where: Sovereign Grounds, Minneapolis
Age of Bap Boy: From around age 1 and up
I decided to take a few photos today while at Sovereign Grounds Coffee Shop/Kid Play Area this morning. This is one of those places that does a decent job of bringing together the need for a coffee shop and cafe with a kid-friendly play space. We've been going here infrequently since BB was just over age 1. Back then, they were in the midst of remodeling it, so initially we weren't impressed. But once the remodel was done, we were like "Hey, for Minnesota...this isn't too bad." (Meaning, Minnesota realllllllly lacks good indoor spaces for kiddos compared to other significant U.S. Cities of similar size.)
Last winter (2014-2015) I went maybe 2 times and it was sooooooo crowded (both for parents sitting in play area and the kids themselves) that I kind of hated the experience. It was just too crowded and I believe the crowded feeling for kids causes more fights and problems. When you have to intervene with a little toddler tiff going on, it's hard to even make your way to your child on those busy days, which is annoying. But that's just me...
Today, it wasn't busy at all - probably because it's summer in Minnesota. I only went because the forecast was looking "iffy" in terms of rain. I'm glad I went on a slower morning because BB had fun. A cute baby was there roaming around, as well as another 2 year old and a 5 year old that made BB laugh a lot. We killed about 1.5 hours and it was nice to do it in a space with toys and equipment that he's not used to playing with, therefore it held his interest way better than if we had stuck around home all morning.
