I started 더 패키지 because I like Lee Yeon-Hee and Jong Yong-Hwa. I first saw Lee Yeon-Hee in Miss Korea and liked her and first saw Jong Yong-Hwa in Future Choice and liked him, plus he's in CNBLUE. So, despite knowing this drama takes place in Paris, (I admit I like watching K-dramas because the setting is usually in Korea) I thought I'd give it a try.
It looks to have some element of thrill, because the first episode eludes to the fact that a dangerous and angry man is trying to find Yeon-Hee's character named Yoon So-So, who plays a tour guide for package vacations to Paris for Korean natives. The supporting characters are other people on this package tour. An older couple where the wife is kind and embarrassed of her disgruntled husband. She also looks like she may have some health condition that is probably fatal, given Korean drama storylines. Another couple is younger but they bicker like an old couple. Then there's Yong-Hwa's character. He's traveling solo but has flashbacks of a girlfriend who he appears to no longer be with, but must be grieving the end of their relationship. And finally, there's the couple that's having an affair.
From what I can see, they filmed a good amount of the drama in Paris which is impressive. I love how the first episode has a scene of the main characters in a gritty sex shop in the red light district. Pretty funny. Let's see how this one progresses. It's clear the main characters are likely going to fall for each other as they are both single but sad...but hopefully the trip along the way is entertaining, with good storytelling and not TOO predictable.
See the complete list of dramas I've reviewed here.
Soju (1) | It had me coming back for more, but left me with a hangover. Worth it in the moment, but slight regret the next day.
Kimbap (2) | It moved well and often left me wondering what would happen in the next episode, but it wasn't as fulfilling as it had the potential to be.
Bibimbap (3) | I lost a lot of sleep because they knew how to end each episode with a cliffhanger! Lots of harmonious ingredients making this one a win!
Fanatic (4) | An amazing drama that was very well told and nearly every single episode ended with a major cliffhanger making you scream for more! I'm an absolute fan!
(I only put on here the dramas I actually recommend because I think it's really good. Even a soju rating means it was good and satisfying. A fanatic rating just means it blew me away and was near perfection. There are many dramas I've seen that I don't have on my recommendation list.)
