Addictive Rating: 3
Synopsis: Do Kyung is a moody, gloomy but handsome sound director for films, comes from a pretty dysfunctional family with a particularly crabby and mean mother. He loses his father at a young age; his father was also a sound director for films. He falls in love with Oh Hae Young who then fails to show up on their wedding day. Heartbroken and angry, he finds out she married another guy and decides to take revenge on that guy who is a successful business man. He starts seeing visions of a woman he doesn't know, as well as visions of other random future events. They all come true, so he feels psychic and curious as anyone would with such a strange gift. Eventually he meets this mysterious woman and it turns out to be another Oh Hae Young, only this woman is a former classmate of the Oh Hae Young he was about to marry. He finds out he got revenge on the mysterious woman's future husband. Essentially he mixed up the two due to their same names and having attended the same high school. Predictably, he eventually falls in love with the mysterious Oh Hae Young and she falls in love with him, not knowing he's the one responsible for ruining her potential marriage with the man who was a successful business man. Coming to terms with their feelings for each other, and dealing with the two people they were going to marry makes for an interesting plot, plus lots of supporting characters that have amazing charisma!
What I have to say: Though the plot sounds rather plain and predictable, it was done with great writing, acting and even cinematography that it whizzed by and was so enjoyable to watch. I loved the characters in this and felt for each of them. The writing does a great job building up a degree of compassion for everyone, making it known that everyone hurts and has something difficult in their life. The music is outstanding and now my favorite OST.
See the complete list of dramas I've reviewed here.
Soju (1) | It had me coming back for more, but left me with a hangover. Worth it in the moment, but slight regret the next day.
Kimbap (2) | It moved well and often left me wondering what would happen in the next episode, but it wasn't as fulfilling as it had the potential to be.
Bibimbap (3) | I lost a lot of sleep because they knew how to end each episode with a cliffhanger! Lots of harmonious ingredients making this one a win!
Fanatic (4) | An amazing drama that was very well told and nearly every single episode ended with a major cliffhanger making you scream for more! I'm an absolute fan!
(I only put on here the dramas I actually recommend because I think it's really good. Even a soju rating means it was good and satisfying. A fanatic rating just means it blew me away and was near perfection. There are many dramas I've seen that I don't have on my recommendation list.)
