COMPLETE LIST OF KOREAN DRAMAS I’VE SEEN FROM START TO FINISH
Bolded (Blue) shows: I highly recommend them.
Orange shows: strong runner-ups.
My history with watching Korean dramas...
I started watching Korean dramas in 2006. This was before video streaming was the norm. A small Korean grocery store in St. Paul, Minnesota sold and rented DVDs of Korean dramas. I was learning some basic Korean language at the time, so I thought watching some shows more intentionally with Korean language would be useful.
Little did I know it would start an obsession! I pulled Attic Cat from the shelf and found it to be sooooo good! Funny, because now my standards are certainly higher, and the K-drama industry has greatly improved. But even then, a rom-com with a redundant plot line still got me hooked. I enjoyed seeing everyday scenes of people living in Korea, gaining some perspective on Korean culture and becoming hooked on some of the music, too.
There are many shows I didn't highlight on my long list, but that doesn't mean they weren't good. I just wouldn't give them the HIGHEST rating.
I'm so thankful for streaming sites now, and have an Apple TV so I can easily stream Viki shows right onto my living room, wall-mounted TV. I remember the past well: DVDs; then bad streaming around 2010; Drama Fever coming - then going; Netflix gaining many Korean dramas; and my eventual allegiance to Viki, where I can get the most shows at my fingertips.
Who knows where technology will take us next! The only certainty is that even as I get older, I will continue to search for good K-dramas.
